Chris regularly facilitates training on how to use CAVAT and gives talks on planning and the use of soft power, especially ways for local authorities to work with the community to encourage wider participation in the protection of trees and landscape.
Recent CAVAT training sessions have been hosted by Sharon Hosegood Associates, Wharton Natural Infrastructure Consultants Ltd, The Arboricultural Association Wales Branch (with Russell Horsey and Richard Wilson), Treeconomics, Tim Moya Associates and Cheltenham Borough Council. In 2018, he presented on CAVAT with Luke Fay (Treeworks) at the TDAG / RTPI / BIFoR joint workshop on valuing trees and other green infrastructure in the urban environment.
Chris spoke at the Trees in the Planning Process conference, organised by the ICF and RTPI, on the LPA’s reasonable information expectations.
